I've looked over the BPAL site and drawn up a list of scents I think I'm interested in! There's a lot, so I've grouped them by the category they fell under on the BPAL page.
I also came up with a general outline of stuff I like and dislike when it comes to smells, because I know I'm picky and I also know there's no way I could perfectly predict which combinations I might like based solely on a written description! :D

General Guidelines for Advice-Givers
These are Right Out: Musk, Leather/Tobacco, Sweet Foods (honey, milk, chocolate, wine, cinnamon, vanilla), very sweet florals (e.g. gardenia, heavy rose)

These are Nice: Evergreens, woods, greenery (heather, sage, etc.), light florals, herbals, "sharp" foods (citrus, ginger, tea, mint, pepper, spices), incenses, rain, sea, paper/parchment

Scents I Tentatively Think I'd Like:
Rappacini's Garden - Baneberry, Black Hellebore, Belladonna, Black Lotus, Moon Rose, Destroying Angel
Picknic in Arkham - Arkham, Miskatonic U, Y'ha-Nthlei
Wanderlust - Amsterdam, Delphi, Dublin, Kostnice, Mag Mell, Rome, Sri Lanka, Vinland
Illyrica - Lear, Apothecary, Antony
Mad Tea Party - Dormouse, Tweedledee, Tweedledum
Excolo - Coyote, Anubis, Hades, Nemesis, Nuit, Old Scratch, Pele, Calliope, Melpomene, Polyhymnia, any of the Kindly Ones, Utrennyaya

Several of the Limited Editions also sounded nice; but since one can't order samples, I know it's unlikely I'll get any. :D If, however, you did order any of these (Yuki-Onna, Carpathian Mountains, Jonathan Harker, Midnight Mass, Snow Maiden) and didn't like them after all, the same applies -- I'd love the chance to try it, and would certainly pass it along if it turned out I didn't like it either.

Thank you all SO much!

Thank you! I'll add Aizen to my "try it" list, and definitely bump Dormouse up to the "try first" ranks, because when you said
a perfect, fresh, rain-touched lilac tree
I instantly flashed to the years I spent in Germany, and the lilac trees that grew in the backyard...

Thanks again!
