The nirvana_in_fire community held a zero comment challenge last week, encouraging fans to find and comment on works with no comments yet. I'm a week late, but I went browsing and found some small gems to share:


Some fantastic 'metaphorical' art of Jingyan and a dragon: Imperial Law by Bacca.

A short little character piece on Mei Changsu's untruths: deceive, delude, mislead by Xuer.

A great Qin Banruo/Jun Niang ficlet set, dealing with trust, betrayal, and the legacy of Xuanji: heaven made me by Anahita.

That's a really nice idea, actually. I may suggest that for the fandom I'm in, although people are generally pretty good about commenting. However, it is especially true that non-OTP fics get less comments (which I know from personal experience).*

*That's actually always bugged me, and in fact, kept me out of a lot of fandoms. It just so happens my current fandom's "main" OTP is my OTP. But I've worked just as hard on fics that didn't focus on the pair, and I have to assume that's true of other writers.

I say go for it! Every fandom needs more comments, right? :D

I can see both sides - I'm often one of those people on the hunt for OTP fic - but then again sometimes I just want to be blown away with worldbuilding or emotionally crushed by a character study, and it's sad when I can tell those fics aren't getting as much attention. (On the other-other hand: a great reccing opportunity! :D I do like being able to highlight some lesser-known works as well as things most readers have already at least heard of...)

The thing I love about the community I'm in is that we're VERY much about reccing, and while the OTP is definitely still the focus, people do rec other things.

I also get just looking for the OTP. I'm less into the smutty side of things than many fans, but I still want to see the couple because they're a huge part of the canon as well.

Plus, smut sells. ;)
