I've been thinking lately how much I enjoy talking about the fictional tropes I love, so it seemed smart to open the field to prompts.

If you have a particular trope you'd like me to ramble on about, please comment with it! I need an excuse to post more, and to come up with more varied recs.

I love a Badass Normal character -- the nonsuperpowered friend/ally of a magical or otherwise superpowered person who can take on and defeat (or at least hold his or her own against) some sort of superior firepower, magical or otherwise. It's a really tricky trope to pull off properly, but when it's done right I adore it. So if you have canon recs, I'm curious!
