It makes me think of Lois Bujold; I remember reading some kind of interview or something from her in which she mentioned that she gives the planets she likes extra hours in the day, in the context of Barrayar's being ~26.5 hours long. :D I've always remembered that because I thought it was cute, and kind of touching in a meta sense of 'author giving gifts to her characters.'
