kraitLong, long ago, in a galaxy far, far away (whoops, wrong fandom!), I promised somebody that I would collect my Kirk/Bones recs all in one big post. Mind you, this was at the height of ST:Reboot fever, for both myself and the nascent fandom -- the kinkmeme was going through a post every two days, and I was reading every story in half a dozen pairings, which meant scanning 50+ pages of comment threads per post for Relevant To My Interests prompts and fills.
When I started slogging through the folder I keep for those recs, though, I realised that this was a MUCH bigger project than I'd thought it would be. I admit it: I crumpled into a little heap of "I can't do this!" after two days of labour wherein I did not even reach the M- titles.
3W4DW seemed like the perfect time to dust that list off and get to work again!
So, here is the start of my list of good-to-awesome Bones/Kirk I have found at the kink meme.
Notes:
1. Titles in quotations are my personal titles for untitled works.
2. Most links go directly to the kinkmeme. Kinkmeme links will direct you to the prompt comment; you may have to scroll down to reach the fic.
3. Most works are short. Those that are not will have [long] after the summary.

"A Better Person" -- Jim thinks drinking improves him. Bones disagrees.
"A Revealing Alarm" -- 5 A.M. fire drills can reveal a lot.
Bad Decisions -- Kirk wants to take Bones home. How should Bones take that?
"Before Class" -- quick and messy interlude at the Academy.
Believe -- a bizarre alien cure works against all expectations; a.k.a. "what would Kirk give for Bones's life?" (WARNING: potential squick! though nothing is graphically described)
Buying Time -- To save Kirk, McCoy steps into the breach.
Consenting -- Someone slips Kirk a date-rape drug; Bones sees, intervenes, drags him back to their room, and is "rewarded".
Diplomatic Efforts -- Jim Kirk had never been pimped by an admiral for the sake of his government before. (WARNING: consent issues, since Kirk's literally under orders to submit here.)
Doctor's Orders -- AU with nonStarfleet!Bones. Kirk's therapist thinks some time down on a farm will be good for him, but it's the country doc who really does him some good.
Duties -- the aftermath of Narada: weariness and wounds, as they limp back to Earth. It's not the quantity of off-duty time, it's the quality.
Epi Pen -- Five things Kirk was allergic to, and one he wasn't.
Even If -- Five times Kirk realised McCoy could always be trusted.
Every Day -- Five everyday things Bones does that Kirk finds sexy.
Experience -- Five trysts Kirk regrets, and the one he plans to stay with forever.
Life Becomes Bones-proofed -- McCoy is adjusting to waking up in the wrong room every morning... or maybe the room is being adjusted to him.
First Time -- five times it was sex, and once it was making love.
"Five Crew Members Kirk Bailed Out Of Jail" -- and what they were put away for.
"Five Regrettable Beverages" -- Five drinks they never want to taste again, and the one they can't help drinking.
"Five Drunken Secrets" -- five drunken confessions McCoy made to Kirk, and one admission made in perfect sobriety.
"Five Times Bones Felt Replaceable" -- McCoy worries that Kirk will find someone better, and how Kirk proved him wrong.
"Five Uniforms and a Birthday" -- Four civilian outfits Bones wore, and one time he wore his birthday suit.
Five Smiles -- Five smiles of Kirk's that Bones recognises, and one he's never seen before.
Foot in the Door -- Vampire!Bones AU! When it comes to Jim Kirk, Bones always seems to go against his better judgment. (This is a series -- expect the other pieces to be recced as appropriate, since this is a purely Kirk/Bones rec list.)
"How To Cuddle" -- There are some surprising things Kirk doesn't know, but sometimes instinct works pretty well.
If I Fall (I Will Catch You) -- A convalescing Pike realises he's been extremely unobservant about certain things. (I adore outside-POV stories!)
I'm Just A Jealous Guy -- Who Jim is and what he means to McCoy, it’s shaped him, it’s made him someone new. This has been the defining friendship of his life. Is it so goddamn much to want to be the defining friendship of Jim’s in return?
Incompatible -- awkward, overenthusiastic, fumbling sex is... actually really hot, Bones finds.
"Joanna's Favourite Spoon" -- Joanna learns to block out the scenery, after Jim becomes part of her Dad's life.
Letters -- AU. Young Kirk, in juvenile detention, is assigned a pen pal -- one Leonard McCoy, pre-med student. (WARNING: Work-in-progress, and still in the pretty early stages, plotwise.)
"Nightmares" -- Bones has a nightmare wherein he can't save Kirk. Cue midnight check, with cliche (but extremely sweet) results. :D
Nomenclature -- Like his mother calling him in for supper, Bones came home when Jim called his name.
Not Alone for Long -- Five times Bones wouldn't leave Kirk behind, and the one time he had to.
No Words -- Breathplay. With a corset. And a reluctant McCoy. (I love McCoy's mix of freaked-out and willing, and Kirk's serious interest in McCoy's consent.)
Opportunity -- Kirk and Bones pick up a girl together, and by the end of the night Kirk has to consider whether to face the complications squarely.
Phallic Symbolism -- Drunken!Kirk and McCoy notice what, exactly, a toy shuttle looks like. This leads to experimentation.
Positive Reinforcement -- So - just how did McCoy go from the shaking, swearing wreck Jim met on that first shuttle to the man composed enough to smuggle him aboard the Enterprise? Or, to use the author's own "alternative summary": Jim Kirk: solving the universe's problems with orgasms, one person at a time.
Potential -- Kirk wants to know why McCoy really didn't want to leave Jim behind when he was on academic probation.
"Prank War" -- How does Jim Kirk's reckless, daredevil nature fit into Starfleet Academy? Practical jokes! (Also, Jim preening in Number Two cracks me up!)
Primum, non nocere -- "Dear god, my *eyes*. That's not any nurse's uniform *I've* ever seen." Kirk finds seducing Bones difficult, till the doctor clues him in to the proper path.
"Reading Glasses" -- Jim suddenly realises that Bones in reading glasses is smokin' hot.
"Rescue Reversal" -- Kirk has to doctor Bones; Bones is half amused and half terrified. (I ♥ snark!)
Save the Last Dance -- voyeur!Bones; five times he watched Kirk having sex, and the one time he only heard about it. (Bonus points for including my other favourite pairing (okay, one of them) in this fandom, Kirk/Pike!)
Say It To My Face -- two men on either side of a prison wall; confessions in the dark.

"Under the Flagpole" -- the aftermath of a med student prank. (a few minor grammar quibbles here, but the writing is sound)
"Up a Tree" -- a sweet, casual moment.
Warmth -- Five times Kirk crawled into bed with McCoy.

Unrelatedly, I also found my old Fullmetal Alchemist Ed/Roy recs post, and tagged it! So now people can, y'know, actually find it. "People" including me. :D
