Cards and tea!

It's time, and more than time, for my annual Cards and Tea post!

For anyone who's new to my journal, every year I offer to send cards and/or tea to anyone who's interested. You don't have to follow me, and you don't have to send me anything! This is my 'thank you' to fandom at large for being a wonderful place.


Here's the poll for 2019 Cards and Tea. As usual, all responses are locked for my eyes only, to protect names and addresses. (Reminder: please don't forget to include a name that goes above your address!)

The fine print: Feel free to discuss your tea preferences in the comments, as well as any particular things I might need to know about mailing (e.g. if you'll be out of town during X period and unable to receive mail, etc.)

I generally have black teas, though there's a few greens and herbals in the mix so if you're into those be sure to sing out! (If you are brave enough to want three ounces of something called "Reindeer Fuel", be especially sure to sing out! It was an accidental acquisition and I am emphatically not a mate fan.)


This post and poll will remain active throughout December (and quite possibly into January), so never fear it's too late to sign up - though of course your card/tea may arrive after the holiday. :D


(If you are one of the people who would like to send tea as well as receive it, thank you! I love non-sweet black or white teas. Plain teas or teas with various flavours are welcome, but I'm not a fan of anise/liquorice, vanilla, cinnamon, or very sweet fruits, e.g. papaya.)

I will be at the address I provided starting January 5, but that should the only relevant info that has an effect on when you send it. Incidentally, I love mate.

I would love any herbal tisanes! Anything from the actual tea plant has too much caffeine for me these days, sadly.

That Reindeer Fuel sure sounds like a choice. o_____o although nothing will beat the tea my grandma gifted me once which, among other things, contained popcorn!

Popcorn is strange, but still seems more promising as a tea addition than mate-ginger-cocoa-peppermint... But then, I like genmaicha, so maybe it's easier for me to make the leap from crisped rice to popped corn. :D

The Reindeer Fuel is definitely a choice (A Choice, even) - it was a free sample that I meant to remove from my cart before completing the order, but apparently forgot.

It feels like the kind of thing that might possibly be the right combination for someone else, but definitely not for me. I already don't like matcha (tastes like grass) nor mint chocolate (tastes like toothpaste). *g*

I am absolutely up for trying Reindeer Fuel. I rarely drink herbal tea and already have plenty, but all forms of caffeine-bearing tea are my kind of thing.

It doesn't smell half-bad, but it's sort of uncanny-valley; cocoa and cinnamon and ginger makes for a weird melding of 'okay, as individual scents these are nice, and even as pairs two out of three are things I'd eat (Ginger & cinnamon are great in baked goods! Chocolate-covered candied ginger is tasty!), but all together I'm not convinced.' And that's without adding in the mate, which I can't smell directly but can definitely imagine the taste of. :D

I have no particular preferences. I am not much of a tea gourmet, though I like basically everything I try, including weird stuff-- I've just been trying not to develop expensive tastes, y'know?
I'd offer to send tea back but most of what I have in stock is extremely boring and basic. In previous years I had a lot of herbs I collected and dried myself but this year I left them all at the farm!
But I will happily send a card in reply.

Oh good, I'm glad they got there! That's not the recipe, it's just the ingredients list -- I got in the habit of bringing/sending the ingredients list whenever I share homemade food in case someone has allergies or food restrictions (or just wants to know what's in it).

Sorry for not letting you know earlier, but the tea got here too. It all smells delicious -- thank you very much! I had a cup of the chamomile lemongrass tea with dinner yesterday and it was very good. And I liked how the inside of the card was sparkly. :D

Ahh it arrived! Am so delighted! What a lovely thing to experiment with. Perhaps I should send you a packet in return in the summer of some of the herbs we use for tisanes at the farm, once I can harvest and dry them again.

I would love an herb packet if you happen to remember - I am always experimenting with new flavours and ingredients for my tea mixes. :D
