Yes! I think the non-benders in ATLA are a great example, especially Sokka since he's the only one of the main group who is unpowered, so he has to contribute in other ways. This is a trope I'm really into, and I think it's a combination of the "ordinary" character having to use ingenuity and regular fighting skills against high-powered opponents, combined with feeling a little bit useless compared to the other characters (and being able to contribute enough that they can prove that they're not).
