Nirvana in Fire Rewatch: Technical Difficulties

This post was supposed to be a Nirvana in Fire rewatch post, but when I went to Viki's website they've removed all of the subtitled episodes! *sobbing*

There's a "helpful" message about how it's now available in an English dub, but it took about six seconds of the dub to realise that I dislike the voice actor for Mei Changsu and there's no way I can listen to an entire episode of this. D: Just the way he says Yujin's name makes me cringe!

Time to look for alternative sources, I guess.

*facepalm* While it's nice that there's an option for blind viewers/consumers now, it could have been done without trashing support for d/Deaf/HOH viewiers. (And, you know, anyone else who just prefers the subbed version.)

The message mentions licensing, so it might be nothing more than a licensing issue; but it's suspicious that the license ran out exactly at the point when a dubbed version was completed...

And yes, way to solve one accessibility issue while creating another!

Myself, I don't speak a word of Mandarin (okay, after watching this show I now know how to say "yes, your Majesty" and "what?"), but I find hearing the original language more emotionally meaningful when I'm watching something created in a foreign language. I have more faith in the emotional cues of the actual actor's voice than in something dubbed in later, where issues of timing can affect the meaning and weight of the words.
