Given that I live in Eurasia, I might as well order from places that don't involve my tea circumnavigating the world, so most US-based stuff is not an option for me. Teavivre ships from China, though they do also have an US warehouse for quicker delivery, it seems. Their teas come with brewing instructions on the side, which are a nice place to start. On their website they also have the gongfu method brewing instructions. I'm sure they're imperfect, but they're better than the alternatives I have here.
Recently, hipster cafés have sprung up, so it's possible to go out to drink tea and get the high end of teabag tea, instead of the sawdust grade that was available before. (East Asian restaurants served actual tea, but everywhere else, coffee only.)
