No vacillating allowed! If you're suddenly feeling the wrong colour, just turn one person to your left (or right) and grab the appropriate body for that feeling! (Nice thing about orgies, in this fandom! Prevents quadrant-flipping if you just cram enough people into them!)

I cracked myself up the other day when I realised that, out of ALL the pairings I have accumulated a strong interest in, the only one that involves two humans together is Dirk ♦ Roxy. *snorts* My biases: I think this fandom was custom-made for them!

Eridan got his own single folder, too?

Heh. He does. Because where else can I stash the Eridan/Rose, Eridan/Roxy, Eridan/Dave, Eridan/multiple, and solo fic,, plus all the lovely Eridan-centric art? *grins* To be fair, Tavros, Karkat, Dave, Aradia, Equius, Gamzee, Feferi, and Terezi all have their own solo folders, too. (A LOT of the solo-folders' contents are fan art rather than fic, and what fic there is tends to be scattered over several rare pairings.)

I have probably already been spoiled. This was one of those fandoms where I started reading fic for it several months before reading the canon. (This was a very challenging fandom to do that in, too! Like, bossfight level of challenge!)

Less pairing-centric-ly, I am a sucker for anything that addresses troll biology or psychology, anything that involves interspecies pairings (ehehehe, obvious fact is obvious), pale pairings, and group dynamics.

when i want to look something up I go to the wiki or tvtropes.

The wiki is definitely handy. I will totally mount an assault on TVTropes once I've completed the canon, too. (That's, like, practically a ritual for me! Devour the canon, do a DW Interest search, then head to TVtropes.) :D

I haven't really attempted the forum except once; nice to know I'm not missing too much, I guess? I have a few meta posts from various Tumblr people bookmarked, and there's a couple more I'd really love to track down again (I am coming to hate Tumblr, rather than be indifferent to it. Homestuck fandom is almost entirely to blame for this.)

at which point in the comic are you atm? reading fic before the comic itself probably helped getting into it, though. it took me two months or more to get over act 1, and usually I'm a fast reader. it got better. and at some point I couldnt stop until I caught up with the archive.

Heh! I hope so? I had an interesting discussion with sholio about that, once, wherein I compared it to a fantasy novel. :D Based on sheer logistics, I may have picked the worst fandom to tackle fic-first; but I managed anyway. :D

I have read some of it! I just am not hooked on it yet. (Give it time, it might happen. Especially since it's a frequent component of Dirk♦Roxy!)

Haha, yes, Tumblr fandom gives me a whole lot of this feeling. *wibbles* The only Homestuck cosplayer at the last con I went to was a minor. As I have not been a minor in, uh, a while... a lot of the Tumblr-based fen seem to be quite young, too.

Heh. If it's a very well-known one, I think thatone of my two brief forum visits was the time I took a stab at that! I didn't get very far, though.

TRUFAX. *facepalming* SO HARD to find things, and then when you do find something there's 154 pages you should also check out, because there might be awesome stuff there, and half the time the blogger posts like mad and buries everything and he other half they don't post enough and you get tired of checking and forget their blog exists.

And it's virtually all pictures and no text, and there's no way to comment, so I don't even know how Tumblr people make friends with each other.

I am planning to make a meta recs post, too, once I start reccing! Right now I just have a few pieces -- one on Sollux and Vriska, a good "Guide to Homestuck Fandom" overview, and a couple specific-to-Hemostuck info-bits.

(Let's face it, I will end up writing some, too. I keep links to various interesting comment-discussions I've had bookmarked in the meta folder, so one day I can go polish them up into posts...)

ahahaha this is quite an accurate description of my fantasy novel reading experience. didn't quite have the problem with homestuck, because I read it in order and was fed info bit by bit (like at first you only see chumhandles and colors of John's friends and by the time Dave is introduced as Dave you knew he was red and TG?) but the lingo still made me all wtf. "captchalogue the nails in your sylladex"??? XD but I think the way homestuck is it doesn't matter what your entrypoint is, act 1, act 5 or fic, because it's playing fast and loose with timelines and universes anyway (and characters and...).

I guess the thing about Dirk and Jake is that you don't need fic for it. ^^" I, uh, have lots and lots of alpha kids feelings.

Heh. :D I read a LOT of that type of fantasy novel as a kid/young adult (and I still read them now, though I alternate with sci-fi), so apparently those are SKILLZ you do not lose. I managed to connect all the characters to their appropriate trappings! It only took me months of flailing around in fic and art and wikis. :D

Heh. I mostly have feelings for the Strider-Lalonde alphas; I haven't been exposed to the other two enough yet to develop solid attachments. This may change!
