Possible _Foreigner_ read-together?

Being in a very book-intensive mood lately, craving science fiction and wishing I had time to reread Foreigner in its entirety, and feeling excited to have discovered another fan of the series in feuervogel (who is awesome, and keeps tantalising me with mention of her novel-to-be, a space opera sort of adventure), I'm wondering if anyone else out there likes this series, or was intrigued by the idea, and would like to read/re-read along with me?

I'd especially love to turn it into something with drabbles being produced, perhaps once or twice per book; but even just making progress posts and letting me babble in your ear about squee-worthy moments would be awesome.

I'd also be amenable to a Chanur Saga group-read, if 10 novels is a little daunting to anyone as a first effort!

This likely wouldn't be an immediate thing, either (my RL is so busy right now it's not funny), so if you're overloaded right now but interested, we can start at any convenient time! Maybe next month?

Come to that, does DW have a sci-fi discussion type community? *off to check*

Awesome! Is there a time frame that would be best for you? I have to get through at least a couple things on my Currently Reading pile before starting something that ambitious (heh), so I'm not thinking of leaping in immediately. Plus, a moderate delay would perhaps give me more time to round up other people? (If you know any, hit them up with the idea!)

What about drabbles (or doodles, for the artistically inclined)?

I am totally in the dark here, having never organised such a thing before -- either a group-reading or a drabbles + group-reading -- but I'm game to try if everyone else is!

I've never participated in such a thing before, so I don't have any useful advice. Even at the rate of five chapters a week (which could make commentary prohibitively long) we'd be at it a long, long time, though...

Well, we could slow it down a little, and just do the first trilogy, then take a break, and come back for the next later. :D

There's a science fiction community, but it's really quiet.

If my to-be-read stack didn't look like this http://yfrog.com/z/h6zf8qqj I'd say "SURE YAY FOREIGNER!" Some of those are more pressing than others, and some are for research, so it's not like I have to read every single one of them before I can read anything else. Three are in German, which means it'll take me a bit longer to read them, since I have to actually read every word on the page rather than every third word and fill in from context like I do in English. (This only occasionally results in me hitting the end of a sentence or paragraph and going, "wait, what?")

Wow, your to-be-read stack looks like mine! Except mine is paperbacks. :D And none of them are anything except entertainment. (Well, okay, two are... but they're at the very bottom because I am a procrastinator.)
