I have spent all day suffering vague anxiety/eagerness to get back into the book I was reading last night! It's been haunting me all day with random flashes of excitement at the building romantic tension and mental giggling over the great banter between the characters.
Unfortunately, I dreamt it.
I'm nearly certain there are no books out there whose main protagonists are a a space cop and her (definitely non-humanoid, wisecracking) alien partner whose relationship is rapidly turning nonplatonic. Especially since the alien looked suspiciously like this:

combined with this:
.
The end result is that I have spent this entire day distracted by and desperate for more of a book that I will never get to finish reading.
...I just realised: This also means there's no online fandom where I can find fanart and awesome fics! And outraged innocents who picked it up totally not expecting hot interspecies space cop smut, even though it was pretty obvious even toward the beginning of the book that it was headed that way (I only got about halfway through it, in my dream, before the evil alarm clock intervened). I can't even request it for Yuletide... :(

Wait; do they even know what that means if they're not into it? How can I explain without squicking?" ...And then came your comment and I remembered this is THE INTERNET, home of the
awesomeoddly-kinked people.) :D((Of course, I note there's only ONE comment. So maybe I terrified the other 95% of the flist.)
Yay for alien smut!

Date: 2011-06-09 12:24 am (UTC)I forget that there are unlocked things like this in my DW when I make cheerful, normal-people-type posts elsewhere. *facepalming* On the other hand, sometimes it works out and I find new people with my weird tastes, so: Welcome! Glad you enjoyed it!
You should totally join the Foreigner readalong! Nothing happens, relationshipwise, till the second book, and the aliens are far more humanoid than the pics here, but they're still awesomely nonhuman and I adore the implications so very much!
