I'm still on an elf kick, and I bring recs! Lord of the Rings flavour, this time.

There are... a lot more... where these came from, so I'm going to try to do them in small batches, with a pairing or other element in common.

A Ballad for Dark Nights by khazadqueen - Gimli & Legolas start their friendship with music.

And yet the sea calls by Laura JV - Gimli/Legolas. Paired fics with lovely, lyrical style.

Yet you comfort me by behindtintedglass - Gimli/Legolas, drawing closer in the shared experience of grief, and coming to terms with what they mean to each other.

The Days Have Gone Down in the West by katajainen - angsty and introspective, yet with a lingering sweetness; Legolas reflecting on memory and immortality, long years after Gimli's passing.

I love all these fics very much, most of them are underappreciated, and some are among my favorites. So I'm vicariously very thankful you've recced these!

(Also I feel the need to alert you of the Gimli/Legolas community here! It hasn't been very active of late but it is filled with very nice people and hope springs eternal. :)

You're welcome! I definitely plan to include some underappreciated and older fics as I rec stuff. (Look, I spent eight days skimming through all 49 pages of AO3 search results for Legolas/Gimli with Modern AU excluded; everybody else might as well benefit from my obsessive monofocus!) :D

Crash on in! It's always fabulous finding people who are into one of my old book fandoms; I feel bad about how much Babbling Excitedly About Elves I've been inflicting on people lately. :D

I feel the pain and joy of that obsession. I tumbled headlong into the pairing in 2017 and have also read the majority of the tag (with a few exceptions). Now I thirst for content and conversation. And I too do a lot of Babbling Excitedly About Elves. :)

Every couple of years or so, I fall into a mood where all my brain wants is elves. Tolkien!elves, D&D!elves, Sidhe!elves... all of them. (Okay, not the shoemaking kind; those are brownies and my brain won't believe otherwise.)

Please feel free to babble away, and if you have any recs, toss them my way! Fanfic or profic. I've already got the Witcher novels and The Goblin Emperor on my list of potential new Elf-containing canons, for whenever the local library opens again. :D
