A few days ago
rushlight75 posted about revisiting Phantom Menace fandom and asked for Q/O recs.
TPM was a huge fannish milestone for me - my first popular live-action media fandom, and the first one I got into as a slash fan, since my fandoms before had slowly converted me. :D
It's been years since I read anything in TPM, so these recs are brought to you by past!Krait who bookmarked them. (It has been a decade and more since I last read these fics, and I cannot vouch for past!Krait's taste; fandom in the early 2000s was a different place, and Krait in the early 2000s was a different Krait.) :D Nonetheless, I hope you enjoy them,
rushlight75!
Crystallize by Torch. Preslash/lots of feelings, and a really cool planet.
Forgotten by Trudy West. A slave is purchased by a young master with a hidden agenda.
In My End is My Beginning by Keelywolfe. Obi-Wan and time-travel.
Resisting Temptations by Keelywolfe. Good old-fashioned classic Accidentally Married fic, with bonus public consummation.
The Bodyguard by Emma Grant. A slaver captain acquires a new bodyguard, and a very dangerous deal.
Elements series by Lilith Sedai: Water, Earth, Air, & Fire. AU: Obi-Wan never become Qui-Gon's apprentice, and Qui-Gon became more estranged from the Council until a mission brings them together as adults. Classic TPM tropes abound - ritual noncon/dubcon, Living Force shenanigans, soul bonds, and more.
Love Me Do and Into the Light, by Master Elayna. Two Modern AUs (what TPM fandom called "AR" - a distinction I wish other fandoms had adopted!). The first features aspiring singer!Obi-Wan and producer!Qui-Gon, the second Royal Navy!Obi-Wan and Pirate!Qui-Gon.
Riding the Wheel of If by Mrs.Hammill. (Link goes to the first story in the series. The rest can be found here via CTRL+F.) After the movie canon, Obi-Wan is transported through alterate realities meeting various versions of himself and Qui-Gon.
Who Will Not See by Coyo. Obi-Wan seems oblivious to everyone who shows an interest in him, much to the bemusement of his Master.
More recs from past!Krait to come. :)
