NiF: Finale

kraitOkay, deep breath, here goes:
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH!
I waited an two days to write this post, trying to gather my thoughts and I still can't do them justice because even after two days I am pretty incoherent with delight and sorrow.
This whole show has just been a ridiculous exercise in "I love everyone in this bar", and now that I have reached the finale this is STILL TRUE. I love everyone. Mei Changsu you wily lying bastard, I love you so much. Jingyan and Nihuang, I love you both. Tingsheng is so adorable all grown up I don't even know what to do. Lin Chen is my out-of-nowhere runner-up fave (with all the rest) and completely won my heart when he made Mei Changsu laugh. Fei Liu is still the best. Consort Jing has my heart forever. Doctor Yan is my soulmate and also wins the 'best hair' award. Xia Dong is a delight and my heart hurts on Gong Yu's behalf. Jingyan & Jingrui are the sweetest BFFs and I love them to bits and wish them all the adventures! Marquis Yan is so quietly awesome. Liyang made me proud in the end.
Even the antagonists get their moments of love. I was wowed by the scene where Xia Jiang is confronted by his ex-wife and son while in prison, and the actor playing the Emperor blew me away with emotions several times. I HAVE SO MANY FEELINGS and right now I want nothing more than to watch the entire thing again while taking notes, preferably by taking a week off work and just mainlining it with as little sleep as possible. :D I may or may not already have the first episode queued up in another tab.
I also have a number of burning questions.
Chief (heh) among them: WHAT DID LIN CHEN DO AFTERWARD?! I would shank a man for three extra episodes about Lin Chen and Mei Changsu at war! It would probably kill me with feelings, but I still want it. Did Lin Chen get to know "Marshal Lin Shu" and did they become friends?? What was the final straw: Bingxu poison, combat, illness?More fakery?
Poor Meng, having to deal with the two of them together. :D As well as the aforementioned three extra episodes, I'd like at least a dozen fics about Meng trying to survive the epic Lin Chen-Lin Shu explosions.
I ALSO NEED TO KNOW ABOUT FEI LIU! Did he ever come round to calling Su-gege "Lin Shu," and whatever the answer, how did Lin Shu take it? Afterward, did he go off with Lin Chen somewhere? Did he get himself killed in defence of Su-gege?
(I had an idea that he might show up in Nihuang's garden someday and just sort of... get himself adopted/taken in as a younger brother. He can beat up Qing and sit by Nihuang when she needs to cry! If this means Lin Chen periodically shows up at the Mu home to be melodramatic and rude and fight verbal battles with Qing and chase Fei Liu while Nihuang rolls her eyes at all of them, so much the better.)
Speaking of fic ideas: I want all the fic now! Except that, since I started reading fic back when I was about halfway through the canon, I think I've already read all the fic and I'm stuck wishing for more! I want all the pairings and also gen (Mei Changsu's first efforts at plotting??) and everything in between. I want all the fix-its, and maybe even some reincarnation-for-a-second-chance scenarios (no modern-day ones, though, I'm not that desperate) (yet).
Already I've found and devoured this series, which hits a lot of the points that I want from a Lin Shu Lives!AU. I just need another hundred or so different takes, to hit all the rest of the points that I want... And there are one or two ideas for writing my own version brewing in my head, too, though I don't think I'm capable of doing it justice.
I promise once I'm more coherent I'll make a post to rec some of the fics I've enjoyed.
In the meantime, please please please, my fellow fen, point me at any interesting fic or meta or art or reaction posts that you've made or enjoyed! ♥

I thought I'd read all the fox!fic, but I missed that one. (Probably because I usually skip WIPs.) These two tags on it are cracking me up: the first chapter is very much "whoa that's a lot of blood!", and I don't want anyone walking in with cocoa thinking it's gonna be a mild ride. :D I feel a sudden urge to drink cocoa now.

I both want to write things and feel like I don't know enough about ancient china to get it right -- maybe will draw instead.
Is there more fox fic than that one?? (honestly I usually skip wips too, I'm just desperate for fic and that one was totally worth it)

Argh, yes, this is my dilemma, too! I want to write so many things - but I don't want to do historical and cultural research for a country whose language I'm completely at sea with.
(honestly I usually skip wips too, I'm just desperate for fic and that one was totally worth it)
That WIP was totally worth it! I have reread it about six times now; it's practically made out of my id, if there was a bit more pining!
There is more fox!Lin Chen out there. Sadly the other fox!Lin Chen fics aren't as awesome, but there is this one, which has a sequel that's not linked to it for some reason. I think I was mistaking the sequel for an 'inspired by' fic, because I'm not finding any other fox!fics and I know I read at least two!
