This prompt came from [personal profile] seerofbread: "Titles/categories from fandoms that you apply to yourself. (For example, what Hogwarts house would you be in, or do you even think/care about those things?)"

Let's start with HP!
This journal has been subtitled "Lair of a Slytherin Slasher" for a very long time, so this one should come as a surprise to approximately nobody. :D (In truth, I'm about half Slytherin and half Ravenclaw, but one of these fits my icon AND my HP character preferences better.)

Moving on to Homestuck!
Oh, boy, oh, boy, if you like titles and categories, this is the fandom for you! :D I've come to the conclusion that my Game title would be Mage of Mind. Fan speculation generally considers the Mage class to be a passive rather than active class, which... well. I'd like to think of myself as a Knight of Mind, but I'm not, really; I have the tendency, seen in Sollux, to let events push me around and narrow my choices, and I suspect that that's part of the Mage characterisation. On the other hand, there seems to be a pretty strong suggestion of creation with Mages, too (Meulin, Mage of Heart, is good at creating pairings, and Sollux, Mage of Doom, creates the virus that both dooms everyone's lusus and prevents a worse doom). This part is subject to revision if and when further knowledge about the Classes becomes available!

Mind, on the other hand, was easy. I've always lived a great deal of my life in my head -- and on the Internet/computer, which is something of an extension thereof. Given a choice, I'd rather sit in a corner and stare at the wall and think than watch most television programming (or parties); my mind is better company than I generally find others. (Why, yes, I identify as strongly introverted!) My Class may be subject to change, but my Aspect was very easy to find.

What about Loveless?
Lesser-known fandom is lesser-known (but still loved)! In a Loveless comm that I miss very much, I once was asked, "Would you consider yourself a Fighter or a Sacrifice? Or neither?"

Since it's a locked comm, here was my reply:
If it's one or the other, I think I'd be a Fighter -- I'm too temperamental to just stand by and watch/take damage; I would want to be the one actively duking it out with my opponent. Also, I'm a wordsmith by my very nature, so using words to control Power would be nearly instinctive to me. But really I think I'm more of a Kio: someone on the outside, looking in, with no understanding of how it works except what I can glean from the other characters' words and actions. (I'm dying to know what Kio knows/guesses/suspects/has no clue/thinks about the world of Fighters and Sacrifices!) Also, for someone as violently inclined as I am, I'm actually a pacifist (I don't even kill spiders!), and I find the entire point of Fighters and Sacrifices obscure -- who are these people, why does the general populace not know about them, what purpose do they serve (or at least, what purpose did they once serve)? What's the point? Can't we just have some candy and talk about it instead?

That still holds up pretty well, for me, really! Wordcraft and Kaidoh Kio are my true loves. ♥

What other fandoms do I have with categories? Oooh, Dragaera! I love the Seventeen Houses of the Dragaeran elves humans Empire! I even created an OC who's half Tiassa and half Issola, which - let's face it - makes him about two baby steps away from being genderswitched!me with better hair, because those are totally the Houses I'd assign myself. (Half Tiassa and half Issola by birth/genes, anyway; he's actually a Jhereg during the ficbits I've got stashed away in a notebook somewhere, for reasons that are obvious if you know the canon.)

For those unfamilar with the series: Tiassa are known for having a thousand brilliant ideas fermenting in their heads (and also a tendency to complete only a fraction of them); Issola are known for courtesy and grace - and the unexpected strike. I find Tiassa all too accurate, particularly, but I'd like to think that, verbally at least, I've got some Issola qualities, too! At any rate, people do seem to think I have a knack for popping in with the perfectly-timed pun/insult/reference that they weren't expecting, and I generally present as a quiet and unassuming sort of person till I know you well, so. Yeah. :D

It's not something I don't think about, because an instinctive part of me wants to be involved in any canon I'm serious about, and that includes "where do I fit in"-type assessments like this, not to mention that it's hard to avoid as a side-thought when doing related types of meta (character analysis, or contrasting the different categories, etc.)! However, it's not something I get deathly serious about, either; I generally prefer to lavish the lion's share of my fannish brain capacity on other forms of meta. But everybody has that thinly veiled self insert OC deep inside them.

What about you, readers? What categories from fandom have you considered, applied, or rejected?
