And when I say too many prompts, I mean in my head. *grimace* I've only posted two out of a dozen or so I have floating around in the storage bings of my brain, and about a million from the meme I have saved in my Inspiration folder. :D

Ack, sorry! My AO3 account was renamed recently; I'm now Serpentine instead of Fer de Lance. (It's deliberately not named in my DW profile, for the same reason my DW is partly locked right now and will soon be renamed; it all boils down to me having one crowning moment of stupidity. Argh.) I don't have any Homestuck fic up there; haven't managed to complete anything yet. Although even if I had, I'd wait till I acquired canon before making anything public; fic has given me a decent grasp of characters and backstories, but NOT of timeline. It's hard to write a story with no inkling of its setting! One is pretty much restricted to PWP stuff.

Hee, this is a good point to consider because, when I last listened to a rap song, it was back in the heyday of Vanilla Ice. *facepalm* It has never been my genre, to put it lightly. (And today I caught myself listening to the rap booming from the car next to me. Dave Strider, the things I do for you...!) I can see why you would take extraordinary measures to avoid it! *giggles*

But more seriously: my feelings for your non-canon-timeline Dave are so vast there isn't a comment block big enough to hold them all. Short version: if you write more tiekinkverse I will be very happy? I'm dying to know all the How They Got Together details, and also pretty much everything about Terezi and her political crusades, and how everyone ended up immigrating to Earth, and what Rose's 'unreadable' look to Dave meant, and how Hasa and Samar manage to be siblings since that's not really an instinctive troll relationship, and every single "experiment" Dave and Tavros tried in figuring out their preferred ways for sexing how everyone else perceives the interspecies couples, and...

I'm working on getting that together in my head, actually! It's not fast, though.

Terezi isn't so much "political" as just "really freaking competent." She's actually sort of a big deal, since she's the first troll to be admitted to the bar, and then on top of that she decided to go into government service with the US Attorney's office. She's sort of easy to caricature, too - she's very recognizeable, has the Daredevil thing going, and isn't mild-mannered in any way. In a lot of ways she becomes one of the most visible representatives of naturalized trolls in the US, especially after she hits the position of US Attorney later in life.

It's my headcanon that the separation of troll wigglers into their own hive-equivalents is in order to discourage the Westermarck effect, and that if two Alternian-born trolls were raised together by the same lusus they might very well have a relationship humans would view as "siblinglike".

Hint: Most trolls aren't big on penetrative sex (it's a related kink to "using partner as bucket") and the fact that Dave is kinked REALLY HARD for it, is always a little disorienting to Tavros. I am planning to elaborate on this particular detail.

Depends on the individual's political beliefs and interactions with trolls! Legally speaking, in order to recognize trolls' relationships, certain American laws had to change (coughDOMAcough), and trolls' lack of parenting culture is a big Moral Issue to a lot of certain kinds of people. Plus, Alternian trolls ARE pretty hyperviolent! But Karkat is, essentially, a one-troll Former Alternian National Turned Naturalized American Citizen wrecking ball NGO. There are a bunch of trolls who asked for refugee status from the US government, and his life's work is pretty much yelling at Senate Committees and Hearings to stop trying to legislate discrimination against them. (Karkat is sort of like Rahm Emanuel or a maritally-faithful Anthony Weiner, although he never runs for Congress. He has a lot of internet fans.)

Being romantically involved with a troll is pretty unusual, just because there aren't many trolls living on Earth. And it definitely raises some eyebrows, or gets some nasty remarks, no matter where you go, but a certain class of liberals believes that trolls are sentient humanoid beings and it's pretty natural for there to be someone out there who's into trolls, and for there to be a troll out there who's into humans!
There's not a LOT of consciousness about troll romance, though, even after all the talk in the news about what it meant that Terezi had a MOIRAIL (Dave).

I adore Terezi, especially when she's being competent (and especially in her own, inimitable, razor-smile brand of competence -- "Daredevil" is a good comparison!) all over the place regardless of how bigots feel about that. *beaming* I'm also a phenomenal sucker for pale Dave/Terezi, so. Yeah. Dave's moirail being awesome all over the U.S. legal and political system makes me smile like mad and cheer her on!

I had picked this up from Dave and Tavros's interactions, so it's nice to hear confirmation! I have a *thing* about couples whose tastes/preferences aren't always compatible, so I really enjoyed the subtle shades of backgrounding in that exchange.

Actually, some of the Dave/Tavros I don't admit to having started writing :D involves that element -- the contrast between 'penetrative sex is normal for my species' and 'penetrative sex is a giant kink and I'm not sure I have it'. Complicated by other issues going on in the background, but definitely there. It's just fun!

Admission: by 'everyone' I mostly meant the circle of friends Dave and Rose have built up. (Are any of the others in interspecies relationships?) I figured the rest of the world would have vastly differing views from one person to another. :D Troll presence is clearly a pretty volatile subject nationwide, at the time of the fic.

Karkat as a one-troll wrecking ball makes me giggle. If anyone can do it, he can! The more conservative members of any given committee might just faint dead away the third time he resorts to "bulgemunching nookstain"... :D It'd let the rest of the Committee get on with having their minds changed, at least!

John and Karkat are together but Karkat refuses on principle to get married (and by "principle" I also mean "he expects to die before forty human years and mistakenly thinks that it'll save John grief").
Sollux is pretty non-discriminating in terms of sexual partners (he discovers twins), Nepeta is constantly falling in and out of flushcrushes on Japanese and Korean pop stars, and Terezi has a massive caliginous thing for a human she meets in law school (though nothing ever comes of it).

Oh, and in case you haven't discovered it yet: there's a DW comm for Homestuck fen, which is pose_as_a_comm. Not terribly active (mostly icons), but a good place to keep in mind since they welcome fic, art, and discussion as well. (cypher has posted fic there at least once, which is handy because she writes awesome Homestuck fic and I approve of anything that might bring her more praise and adulation feedback and inspiration!)

*facepalms* You're right! I guess I mostly read on DW, at least at first, so that rather obvious claim escaped me.

I am not really a podfic fan, alas. I'd like to be, but I don't have an attention span for auditory information at all -- if I tried it I would end up tuning it out and reading something else. I can't keep my mind on audio-based stuff for much longer than, say, a fanvid. D:

Coyo = Sleeps with Coyotes = Ciceqi. She's not in Homestuck fandom (alas!) but she writes in a large number of fandoms and is awesome at xenobiology and xenokink. (Her fic's the reason I know about all the races in the game The Last Remnant despite never having played it!)

If she ever gets reasonably caught up on all her WIP stories and series-in-progress, I'm going to be seriously tempted to throw Homestuck at her! :D

I trawl AO3 after I've read everything on my DW flist. So while there are several people who post on both places, I tend to skip their AO3s (or just use them for bookmark links) in favour of trying to find new people there.

The tags at AO3 make me so very happy, although sometimes they are frustrating too.

I'm glad to hear that Tumblr-only fans are adopting the site as an archive, because Tumblr is basically this gigantic tangle of I Cannot Figure It Out and so much of Homestuck fandom seems to be there (I think; it's like looking through a foggy window at a distant land) that I worry about missing out on lots of fic. But if they're using AO3 I will find it!

Yes, they are. Tumblr is also a fantastic platform for artists, who are legion in HS fandom, so it's picking up steam in terms of regular and art blogging, but it is awful for fic. Thus the AO3.
