Dear Yuletide Writer,

Thank you for writing for me! This is only my second year doing Yuletide, but last year I was completely amazed by the awesomeness of the whole thing, so I suspect I'm firmly hooked! Anything you write for my beloved but neglected fandoms will be an awesome and happymaking experience for me.

Below the cuts, you can find more details (which are, of course, optional!) both for my overall tastes and by fandom.

Thank you for clicking here. :D

Basic squicks and things I generally don't enjoy:
I have relatively few squicks; they are needles, "romantic" rape (consenting kink and genuine assault that is presented as such are fine -- I'm aware that at least one fandom I've chosen has backstory involving noncon), and basically anything to do with pregnancy.

Less direly, I am not generally enamoured of AUs of the modern-day/real-world kind (AUs which are more fusion/crossover-ish I find much more fun, e.g. "X and Y are Herald and Companion!" or "what if Character X was a mutant?"), and of the "realization of love brought on by jealousy" trope.

Basic squeaks and Bonuses:
The list of things I adore is a list too long to type out, but a few of them include interspecies relationships (romantic or platonic); outsider perspective on relationships or other characters' use of 'in-universe' documents/references such as poetry or history; interactions or relationships where everything's not perfect but there are compromises that make it work; learning what somebody thinks is adorable/important/admirable in another person (particularly when it's something that most people overlook, or aren't aware of); and people getting second chances.

REQUEST 1: Discworld series - Pratchett
First: You don't have to fit in all of these characters; use whichever ones inspire you. I love all of them for various reasons, and will love any fic that shows their unique qualities -- whether it's the ones we know best, or an unexpected side of them that's only hinted at elsewhere. I also love to see them at work, doing the things they do best -- Vimes catching crooks and being a suspicious bastard, Vetinari being eerily omniscient on the city's behalf, Angua catching crooks as the best canine cop on the Disc, and Moist charming and conning his way through an impossible mission.

If you're interested in writing something with a higher rating, I'd love just about anything involving these four; I've been known to read Vimes/Vetinari, on the slash front, but would also be fascinated at seeing a scene from Angua's relationship with Carrot (how DO a six-foot dwarf and an occasional canine get along in bed?), or Moist and Adora (once she'd seen his etchings, who made the next move, and what was it?) -- when it comes to Discworld characters, I have so much love for pretty much all of them that it would hard to go wrong. :D

REQUEST 2: Lord John Grey series - Gabaldon
Ahhh, historical slashy goodness! Again, you don't have to leverage all the characters into it; and there's very little I wouldn't be delighted to see: a scene from John and Percy's relationship that the book didn't show us; John and Stephan having a delicately coded discussion about Percy after his departure; Stephan consoling John or vice-versa, or just good, uncomplicated we're-both-soldiers-who-could-die-tomorrow comfort.

Part of the reason I love this series so much is because it deals with some of the realities of being gay during an historical period when that couldn't be openly acknowledged; any exploration of these themes, or their effects in someone's life, would be lovely.

REQUEST 3: Chanur Series - Cherryh
Words cannot even describe how much I love this series. The things I love most about it (apart from EVERYTHING and ALL THE CHARACTERS) is the same thing I love in Cherryh's other sci-fi, which is to say, the way various species are genuinely alien to each other, in thought even more than in form. Being inside the thought process of someone like a kif, or someone who's trying to outthink/predict a human with no experience of how we work, fascinates me.

I love Chur for her mix of cerebral intimidation and earthy physicality, and her intrinsic bond with the entire crew of the Pride and particularly her sister; I love Hilfy for her willingness to deal outside her own species and her reluctance to be caught up in hani mindsets when they aggravate her, not to mention her quick thinking and desire to prove herself as a captain in her own right, and the way she builds a working relationship with her own crew despite obstacles of age and experience. And I love Vikktakkht for his humour, his intelligence, and his ruthlessness, and for the fact that he's a radical kif who contrives new words and new concepts that his species has never before conceived, but is still a kif in every sense, consistent with Hilfy's observation that they don't have the wiring to think like a hani would.
