art rec: "The Flight of the Prince"

I'm sick and working overtime, so naturally my Flist explodes with wonderful things! :D Like The Flight of the Prince, by [livejournal.com profile] mneomosyne. Beautiful atmosphere; a very eerie, almost surreal, depiction of one of my favourite HBP scenes.

Art rec: "I am not a coward!"

Ooooooh. Glock has done it again! Beautiful HBP art, with Snape and Harry and one of my all-time favourite scenes: "I am not a coward!" really captures the emotional resonance of the moment, with Snape's ferocious expression and battle-prepared stance. And such beautiful details: the clasps of Snape's robe, the surprise on Harry's face. Lovely!

Art rec: Snape's Initiation

Delightful gen art by [livejournal.com profile] fiendling: Snape's Initiation has truly incredible shadows and such a palpable aura of secrecy. I'm in love!

Gen art!

If you haven't seen [livejournal.com profile] yukipon's lovely sketch of Harry and Sirius... why haven't you? :D It's absolutely wonderful. The moment depicted is just perfect; so happy, familial, even downright cute.

You can find it here in her journal, although it is also available at her website.

...and more gen art: "Yet Another Snape"

All right, folks, this is the genuine article. :D [livejournal.com profile] squirmy's "Yet Another Snape" is anything but just another Snape! He could be right out of an animated Potter film, with his bright yellow tones and marvelous sneer. I'm utterly in love with his expression.

And his nose. :D

Art rec: Remus & Harry

Gen art! Remus + Harry is just a terrifically sweet hug, with young Harry and a determined Remus; [livejournal.com profile] glockgal has done a lovely job depicting emotion on both sides, particularly on Remus, whose very understated-ness makes him seem true to canon. (Plus, despite being pencil work, it looks like watercolours, and I'm a sucker for watercolours!)

Art rec: "At the Three Broomsticks"

It seems to be a day for gen. :D

Ditraveler's "At the Three Broomsticks" is an illustration of the scene in PoA wherein Harry's connection to Sirius is revealed; everything is absolutely marvelous, right down to the incredible Christmas tree next to the table, and the look on poor Harry's face.

Art rec: "Guardian"

Here's one that got lost in the shuffle for a while! Guardian, by Julip ([livejournal.com profile] coldbeverage), is a terribly lovely picture that not only evokes a wealth of emotion but is also particularly well-done. I adore watercolours, and hers are superb--muted yet distinct, with a wealth of texture and detail.

Art Rec: Naked Remus!

Hurrah for ~metamorphism! Remus, naked save for a Christmas bow, kept me grinning all day long.

Art Rec: "Two Coats" AND Fic Rec: "Clipped Wings"

All right, there's no slash at all here, and Snape's nose seems just a little short (it's lovely and characteristic in all other respects, though), but I like Cyllaniel's "Two Coats of Black" very much. Snape and a raven; what's not to like?

Perhaps it also reminds me of one of my favourite fics ever, too; "Clipped Wings", by Theresa Wymer, is possibly the best magical-holocaust story out there. From the very first words it had me hooked, and never let me go. It's one of those stories I love so much, it never occurred to me to rec it before this picture made me realise I hadn't.

Art! "You're Not At All What I Expected"

I can't, unfortunately, make a direct link, but directions are simple:

1. Go here.
2. Click on "Second Wave Entries" in the left-hand side menu.
3. Scroll all the way down to the art at the bottom of the page.
4. Click on the first piece by Mashonna.
5. Drool. Stare. Drool some more. Spend fifteen minutes obsessing over the drool-worthy details of each scene, even the tiny ones. Grow faint from hunger (or blood rushing the other direction). Bookmark and love.

Art! [Cover for AWS]

The talented and lovely [livejournal.com profile] debchan has made a marvelous cover for Telanu's A Wizard Song. See it here. Look carefully-- there's more than just a picture of swirly Snape!
