Foreigner reading: logistics

I took a look at my copy (paperback), and found that most of the chapters average perhaps 30 pages (generally 22-35), but there are several which are quite short (7-8 pages).

If we want to aim for 50-60 pages per "chunk" of reading, I'd suggest the following setup:

1st: Books 1 + 2 (61 pg)
2nd: Chp. 1 + 2 (58 pg)
3rd: Chp. 3 + 4 (48 pg)
4th: Chp. 5 + 6 (57 pg)
5th: Chp. 7 + 8 (61 pg)
6th: Chp. 9-13 (55 pg)
7th: Chp. 14-16 (39 pg)

Alternately, if we wanted to read a bit more at a time, we could do it this way:

1st: Books 1 + 2 (61 pg)
2nd: Chp. 1-3 (90 pg)
3rd: Chp. 4-6 (73 pg)
4th: Chp. 7-9 (84 pg)
5th: Chp. 10-13 (71 pg)
6th: Chp. 14-16 (39 pg)

Or, slightly more ambitiously yet, there's a third option:

1st: Books 1 + 2 (61 pg)
2nd: Chp. 1-3 (90 pg)
3rd: Chp. 4-7 (102 pg)
4th: Chp. 8-12 (97 pg)
5th: Chp. 13-16 (68 pg)

Because I can, I give you a poll:

I feel I should note that I would be totally fine with the first plan! If we're just doing discussion posts, any day (or pair of days) works for me, though a non-weekend day would be better.

Here from [community profile] science_fiction and [community profile] fantasy. I LOVE the Foreigner series and would love to join in the read-along! A while ago I started to read them through with my partner, but that stalled out because he reads much slower than I do. Going back to the beginning would be fine, because they're so densely written and fascinating I'll always find more in them.

I am very enthusiastic! Cherryh is one of my very favourite authors. I haven't read the Chanur books (haven't found the first one in the library yet, will order it one day) but I loved the Morgaine saga and Foreigner. It'll be fun to read the series in company and talk about it :D

Thank you for the compliment on my dragon icon -- I drew the picture myself.

I cannot promise that I will participate (hi! here via [community profile] fantasy, etc.) but I will try, whatever the consensus winds up being!
