FINISHED!
I watched the last two episodes of MDZS today! Very fun, and an action-packed ride for most of it - particularly Episode 11, which might as well have been titled Everything Happens So Much. :D
The ending was so sweet, with meetings and partings both at once, plus the mystery of Lan Zhan's song finally revealed, with Wei Ying concluding, "A good name. I like it."
I feel the same, Wei Ying. :D
Now I desperately need to find some icons!
(Eventually, I will clean up my episode summary notes and unlock the entries for them, in case they're helpful to anyone else.)

I'm so glad there are people on DW who are into it, especially since I'm arriving late enough to the fandom that there has been time for lots of people to move on.

I said I would never watch anything that had subtitles. My partner does sometimes and I thought it would detract from my concentration and enjoyment. It didn’t at all, after a very short time I almost ceased to notice it at all. After watching it once I watched it again and have watched it many times since. It’s beautifully done! I also really adore Word of Honour in fact I can’t choose between the two really.
Here’s Elwin’s cracking post that made me decide to watch it.

High five. I'm almost always late to discover fandoms, so it's normal for me! I think the last time I was 'on time' to a fandom was when I got into HP around the time of the 4th book release.
Years of anime habituated me to subtitles, so at least those weren't a struggle. Lucky for me, I guess. The handy thing about subtitles is that they don't really change much from one fandom to another, save for the odd bits of vocabulary - out with -chan and -kun and sensei, in with -ge and -jie and shizun. :D
