Meme: Default Icon

I'm shamelessly ganking this meme from [personal profile] sylvaine, who posted it here.

In a post about icons and icon usage on DW, [personal profile] melannen commented,

(That is also something I've noted with icons: people tend to be really bad at realizing what other people see when they look at them, sometimes because you need to know the fandom, sometimes you just need to know context that was cropped out of the shot. There used to be a meme that went around every so often that was like "explain your friends' default icon" and there were always surprises!

So there you go: Comment with your interpretation of my default icon! What am I saying about myself that I might not know? (No cheating by looking at the description!)

Then feel free to post it in your own journal to see how people interpret yours.

It's a snek! Possibly a krait, but I don't know what those look like.
zdenka: A bird made of flowers. (cheerful)

It's a snake swimming in the water? It seems like a friendly sort of icon to me -- the snake seems relaxed and curious.

I know it's a sea krait, and it looks to be swimming happily in the sea, satisfied with life.
sylvaine: Dark-haired person with black eyes & white pupils. (Default)

I guess it's cheating that I remember the origin story of your icon *g* mostly I tend to just see "stripy wiggly snake" and know "ah yes, it's krait". Upon current closer inspection I also see the background seems to be a body of water of some description, and there's also plants. And I remember that it's a krait because that's you. But mostly on a day-to-day basis it's just "wiggly snake"!

Long live the water snake! I think that it tells me that you enjoy long moonlight slithers through a pond!

What a fun meme! Going to borrow it!

I remember when you picked the Krait, and your love of creatures legless and poisonous.

I don't know if I can give you any other interpretation - we've been mutuals for so long (even with little interaction) that I'll always think of you as a lover of snakes somewhat dangerous.

They're stripey! That must mean they're related!

*grin*

I remember when you switched username and icon, so taking part would be cheating. *g* It's still a cool meme, though.

it is a snake! colored pencil, water, and the tiny plant in the corner looks like a bow on the snake's head if I look real fast.

Unless Rudyard Kipling steered me wrong with "Rikki-Tikki-Tavi," krait is a small very poisonous snake. Yours is more stripy than I expected, and also apparently aquatic. So maybe you want to reassure your readers that you're not as dangerous as you seem?

It's a snake in water. It's swimming alone - it's not eating something, it's not being eaten, it's just doing its thing. So I interpret it as "this is a normal entry, this is just business as usual". (Am I close?? Also feel free to interpret my default icon, which I have used on this comment!)

toothy jellyfish that drains your life energy! it isn't interested in your, uh, other bodily fluids :v

In the Metroid games it sure seems to be - entities killed by Metroids appear dessicated. Your guess is as good as mine.
