Sorry for the quiet lately; the free internet isn't being very cooperative during the times I'm most inclined to get online.

Anyway - I've been rereading the Temeraire series, because I just purchased the last book and it's been a while. Still adore them! How are all these characters so good?! Novik really has a knack for making characters who are real people, and also for remembering her setting at all times so that her characters are intrinsically a part of it.

I want to ramble a whole lot more, especially about how much I love Tharkay, but the library is freezing me to death and also I need to obtain potting soil before dark. When I've finished the whole series, though, expect chatter and squee and (hopefully) fic recs! :D

As I've said in comments below, I'm about to start on my least-favourite-of-the-ones-I've-read so far, i.e. the Amnesia Plot book, so we shall see what I find to say about it. :D

I hated the amnesia plot book SFM tho. I hate amnesia plots; brains don't work that way, a, and it's pointless angst. I read the whole thing, but I yelled about it the whole time.

Hahaha, I'm just about to start the Amnesia Plot book, and I feel exactly the same way about it. :/ It's... a thing I have to get through, in order to get back to the plot I was enjoying.

I liked the first books, but the last one I bought (after the Australia one, which was hard enough going), I only read a few pages before putting it down :/

I like the Australia book, though my inner biologist starts screaming once we encounter the bunyips, but (as we've been calling it in the comment thread above yours) The Amnesia Plot Book is definitely a low point. I'm only slogging through it so that I can get Tharkay back. :D
