The other thing I bought for myself arrived, and I've just enjoyed a delightful reread!




I read Digger online when it was still a WIP, too, though as I recall it was fairly close to ending, or even managed to end before I had caught up to the current page. It's pretty much the thing that cemented Ursula Vernon in my heart; before, of course, I loved her art (I have committed fanfic), but Digger gave me a much wider scope on just how many beloved tropes we share.

If you love mythology and folklore, pragmatic protagonists, culture clashes, and fantasy, check it out! I sprung for the omnibus edition because I had read the story already, but it's pricey (more than reasonably so, considering the size and artwork! but pricey nonetheless) and if you'd like to try it for less you can also purchase it in multi-volume form. Or check it out online, though I urge you to support the artist if you can!

And hey, living near UVernon sounds like it'd be pretty cool, too; her garden photos are always very impressive, so there must be some nice scenery around you!

Oh pants, I just realized I never replied to this! It's signed is the main fancy bit, but it also came with goodies and swag.

There is definitely a lot of green here. It's one of the things visitors from the desert west comment on!

Eeeeee fic! And also eeeee Digger *___* I read my friend's copy & desperately want my own, but as you said it is rather pricey so it's been put on the backburner for now.

Heh, yeah. Old fic is old! But I'm actually still pretty proud of it, and I think the recipient really liked it, too. It is very Vernonesque, in my humble opinion - I tried really hard to work in a lot of the tropes she uses, and artworks beyond the one requested, and I feel like it really worked.

Backburners are good to have. :D All month I've been noodling around with ideas for creating a more literal backburner... thing... where I can list stuff that I want to buy eventually, so that when I am ready to spend money I can remember some of the things I've already said I wanted. If I had a smartphone, that'd make a great app!

I've started using Amazon wishlist for that! Partly because it has a bookmarklet that also lets me put things off other sites on there, and partly because then people who want to buy me things can also see it. *g* Though I'm sure that kind of thing also exists for somewhere that's not amazon...
