Lord of the Rings fangirl time.

You know what? I have never had so strong a reaction to someone disrobing on screen as the one I have at the bit in Two Towers, where Aragorn at Helm's Deep is arming before the battle, still believing he's going to die with the Rohirrim on the walls. I just... Uhnf. I don't even have words. It makes me simultaneously want to pull on my own armour and pick up blade and join the hopeless defence as a comrade in arms, and kiss him like Arwen doesn't even exist, right there on the cavern floor with the remains of the Fellowship watching.

Nnngh, yes. Two Towers had me breathless for the whole damn thing, and that scene was no exception. I have a hard time getting emotionally involved in movies, but that one had the opposite effect, where I couldn't shake it for days afterward.

Oh, yeah. Mostly there's a layer of distance between me and whatever I'm watching; I'm interested, but there's some cushion between me and the big emotional punches.

These films? I start feeling a tightness of the chest when they're getting dressed, and it just gets worse from there. :D By the time ROTK rolls around and Aragorn's telling a bunch of incorporeal zombies their oaths are fulfilled, I've got this deep and abiding urge to run off to a place that doesn't exist and forsake all the conveniences of indoor plumbing for a life of horsemen with banners and an oath of fealty.

...And then I spend the next week writing snippets of character-study fic in my head, and wondering how they all went along, after the end, and remembering random snippets of oddly touching minor moments. And making LJ posts about them.

I don't remember this scene well enough... This definitely calls for a LOTR marathon the next chance I get!

Heh, that's always a good idea! :D I tend to do the same thing -- forget them for a while, then marathon them all in a rush of glee and Big Emotional Moments and squeeing.

I was just rewatching those before I left, and y'know, I remember thinking some yummy thoughts there myself. *grins*

Mostly, though, I just crushed on Faramir.

Watched ROTK last night, and I cheered every time he came onscreen. Go, Faramir, with your being tragic and cute andsoobviouslyinlovewithAragorn!
