A prompt from flowersforgraves: How did you get into tea?

I have talked a bit about this in a post last year, but essentially: I've always drunk tea in some form or another, but it became a staple of my life when I was in college the first time. Tea was caffeinated, inexpensive, easily made in a dorm room with just a hot pot to heat water (I used a Pyrex 2-cup measuring cup as a teapot!) and as a bonus had a range of strengths and flavours to prevent boredom.

I'm a tea drinker.

That encompasses the basics, but there's so much involved with that simple statement that it can't possibly all fit in a DW entry, so I'll pick a few subcategories to discuss. You're welcome to ask about others in comments.

Tea!

Yaaaay, isis, thank you so much for the lovely teas!

After careful sniffing to rank each one's relative deliciousness, I have arranged them in order and started with the Prickly Pear first. It kinda reminds me of a blend I made on Adagio, honestly. Needs more caffeine, but I like the sharper zing behind the sweet-ish initial flavour. :D

Next up is the Tropical Black, but I know it's right up the alley of a friend of mine so I don't want to start on it until I can share.

Some of you, your cards/teas are in the mail. A few have been delayed because I couldn't get to the post office when I'd planned to go, and it will be a couple more days before I can make it. (Curse the local post office's schedule, which almost exactly overlaps my work schedule! Highly inconvenient.)

I hope everyone had a relaxing holiday and received many nice presents! Including Yuletide fics, for those who participate. ~~Good grief, I haven't even had a chance to look at the Yuletide fics for this year yet!~~

It's that time again... time for Krait's Annual Sending of Holiday Cards and/or Tea!

For those who are new, or have forgotten, every year I offer to send out holiday cards (with or without a few tea bags tucked in) to anyone on my reading list.

This has been a tradition of mine since LJ, and I still enjoy it a lot! For me, it's something tied to LJ/DW fandom being a community. Anyone is welcome to sign up, and you're not expected to reciprocate (though if you want to, you can PM me for contact info).

Notes about flavours or types of tea you prefer are welcomed in the comments! My tea collection is mostly black tea, with a few stray whites or greens. I am Not A Vanilla Person, (haha; have you seen this blog's tags?! But also literally) and not a big fan of sweetened teas or of sweet-fruity flavours, either, so those generally won't appear in cards with tea, though sharper fruits like citrus or currant are possible.

I have neither forgotten nor forsaken my holiday cards and tea tradition! I merely realised early on that it wasn't going to happen in time for Christmas this year, and decided to make it a January thing.

(For anyone reading who wasn't here last year: every year I offer to send a card and/or tea to my online friends! Reciprocity isn't expected and you don't have to be shy about asking even if we don't know each other all that well; it's one of my favourite, low-key ways of appreciating and fostering the community of fandom.)

Respond when you can; there's no rush since I have no holiday deadline to make my cards irrelevant this time!

Hard as it is to believe, it's time once again for my holiday tradition of sending out cards and tea to all of the lovely people who make this corner of fandom an excellent place to hang out!

If you have any allergies, flavours you can't stand, or other requests, this year I've added a field for those in the poll. Or you can drop them in a comment, whichever you prefer. I generally send a mix of mostly black teas, and a mix of card designs, but I do have other options if you would rather I exclude a certain subcategory (e.g. "only decaffeinated or low-caffeine teas" or "nothing with mint"). This goes for cards, too; "I'd prefer a Hannukah card" or "I'd like a non-holiday card" are perfectly valid options.

Some of you lovely people send me cards and/or tea in return, too, so I'll go ahead and note: any kind of card is fine! I mainly drink black teas (white is good, too!), but I've never been able to enjoy vanilla/chocolate, licorice, or sweet-fruity (mango, strawberry, etc. - citrus, currant, or other tart flavours are OK!) flavours in tea. My address has changed this year! Please let me know if you're intending to send something, so I can give you the new address!

The time has come for my traditional offer of holiday cards and tea for all my fannish friends! Here's a poll, for everybody's convenience; answers are non-viewable, so you can leave your address safely.

I generally send a mix of mostly black teas, and a mix of card designs, but I do have other options if you want less caffeine or would rather I exclude a certain subcategory (e.g. "please leave out any Earl Grey varieties" or "I'd prefer a Hannukah card or non-holiday card").
