eponis's post here for thoughts on love, redemption, and the ever-puzzling question of why, precisely, Dumbledore trusts Snape. The bit about fandom perception of Severus Snape made me think rather hard about how I regard him and how my writing presents him.
That said, of course, if Snape does die protecting Harry, I will shed bitter salt tears and go into mourning for at least six months.
