Feeling thwarted

I feel rather hollow lately when it comes to fandom -- not having a Big Exciting Active Fandom has left me floundering about in a combination of disappointment (when I get excited and want to be active in something, there's no fandom) and frustration (all the things my flist is getting active and excited about don't interest me, or I don't have access to them). I have all this pent-up fannish energy, but nowhere to direct it.

Anyone want to direct me to where the Sooper Sekkrit Fangathering for my bookish obsessions might be hiding? Or join with me in an effort to kick Loveless- or Eroica-fandom back into action?

Or take a stab at inducting me into a shiny new fandom?

I feel your pain, I truly do. I love to read, but it feels like no one reads the same books as me, so my fangirling goes unheeded (and the only things I can genuinely fangirl over are books). Sobbb.

What are some other bookish obsessions you're gunning to fangirl over?

Erm, ah, well, Steven Brust's series set in Dragaera are amazing and I heartily recommend them if you've never read them! And I would commit a felony if it got me a fandom for either series.

I'm also wishing there were bookfandoms for everything from Anne Bishop's Black Jewels series to CJ Cherryh's Foreigner (or Chanur) series -- Oh, what I would give for a Foreigner fandom! -- to Pratchett's Discworld to Briggs' Hurog series to Flewelling's Nightrunners to Kushner's Swordspoint to Novik's Temeraire to a host of others. (Anyone with some awesome Forgotten Realms elf-centric fic would win my heart instantly! Or even Valdemar fic, as long as it isn't a high school AU!) Or Sherlock Holmes! (Either Doyle's, or one of the spinoff books I've been reading lately, like the Irene Adler mysteries or the Mary Russell series.) Oooh, and what about Lord Peter Wimsey? There can never be enough Wimseyfic.

Oh, and I didn't mention the Miles Vorkosigan series, because it does have a fandom that's at least present and half-active, but I would love some more activity, or a way to get myself started in it, as well.

Now: what are your bookish obsessions? :D
